Private Residential

Villa Charlottenlund

This project focused on renovating and updating a villa in Charlottenlund to suit the everyday life of a family of four. From the earliest sketches to move-in, the ambition was to improve flow, functionality, and comfort, while respecting the home’s original character.

The client wished for a home that feels bright, well-organised, and easy to live in, with thoughtful upgrades throughout both ground floor and first floor.

The renovation was carried out in close collaboration with contractors, ensuring that both spatial changes and details were carefully executed. The layout was refined to improve circulation, and original architectural features were restored and highlighted rather than replaced.

On the ground floor, south-facing windows bring generous daylight into the home, emphasising original stucco details, polished floors, and a re-established entrance hall with restored wooden steps and coloured glass windows. These elements create a strong connection between the home’s history and its renewed use.

“This project was about respecting what was already there, while carefully adapting the home to modern family life. By improving flow and restoring original details, the villa could evolve without losing its character.”

- Mette Risbæk, Architect

Upstairs, the rooms were reorganised to support family life. The bathroom was expanded and redesigned as a calm and functional space, featuring bespoke furniture and tailored solutions that elevate everyday use without feeling excessive.

The result is a home where historic qualities and modern living coexist naturally, carefully renovated to feel both timeless and practical, with attention given to how the family lives in the space today.
